In Cairo, Kavanagh engaged in meaningful dialogue with Egyptian officials, including a significant meeting with Ambassador Ehab Badawi, the Assistant Foreign Minister for Multilateral Affairs & International Security. This exchange allowed Kavanagh to gain a deeper understanding of Egypt's security landscape, particularly their advanced strategies in combating drug trafficking and smuggling.


A key highlight of his visit was the discussion with General Alaa Ragab, a member of INTERPOL's Executive Committee. The dialogue focused on potential strategies to enhance INTERPOL's operational effectiveness. Kavanagh presented his vision for the future of INTERPOL, emphasizing innovation, political neutrality, sustainable impact, and the preservation of core policing principles. He acknowledged Egypt's instrumental role within INTERPOL and its contributions to international security.


With an extensive background in law enforcement spanning over 30 years, Kavanagh's expertise positions him as a strong contender for leading INTERPOL. His international operational knowledge and strategic leadership are crucial for guiding INTERPOL through the dynamic challenges of global crime.


Reflecting on his discussions in Egypt, Kavanagh expressed optimism about the prospects of collaborative security efforts. "My visit to Egypt was a valuable opportunity to connect with key figures in the government and INTERPOL, sharing insights on the security challenges we face globally," he stated.
